The SOTM5 PRS Lite .308 is a 20″ .308 Winchester rifle built on Second of Ten’s billet SOTM5 receivers: a thermal-fitted MOD-0FA upper over a 7075-T6 aluminum lower. The barrel, gas system, bolt, recoil parts and controls are each chosen for this cartridge and this role, and each is named below. Upper, lower, handguard and ejection port cover are finished in FDE Cerakote®.
SOTM5 names the rifle; the serialized part is the lower receiver. MOD-0FA names the billet upper fitted to it, the forward assist version of the MOD-0. PRS Lite identifies the stock configuration, built with the Magpul PRS® Lite.
The barrel is the part of this rifle that most decides how it shoots, so it is the part chosen first. Second of Ten fits the Ballistic Advantage 20″ .308 Winchester Heavy Profile barrel from the Modern Series, and these are the features of it that matter.
A free-float handguard only helps if it stays where it was put. The 15″ SOT Wedge-Lock M-LOK® handguard is built around that.
20″ Ballistic Advantage Modern Series .308 Winchester barrel in a heavy profile: chrome moly vanadium, QPQ finished, 1:10 twist, rifle-length gas. The rest of the rifle is specified around it; the detail is set out above.
The SOTM5 MOD-0FA upper is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum billet to the LR-308 DPMS high pattern, with laser-engraved T-marks and a dry film lubed interior. It is thermal fitted to the barrel, so the joint between barrel and receiver is an interference fit and not a slip fit.
The MOD-0FA keeps the forward assist, phosphate finished and retained by a threaded forward assist pin.
A RIFLESPEED adjustable gas system lets the rifle be tuned to the load and to a suppressor. The gas block is pinned to the barrel, in line with the Bombproof by Design™ philosophy: a pinned block cannot shift the way one held by clamping or set screws alone can.
KAK Industries LR-308 double ejector group: an 8620 steel carrier with its outside rails, bolt runs and gas bores ground to .0002″, and a 9310 steel dual ejector bolt, phosphate finished, MPI tested and marked. A high-pressure firing pin and an O-ring extractor helper are fitted.
The heat-treated 4130 gas key is secured with Grade 8 fasteners, torqued to spec, and staked with a hydraulic staking machine, with sealant between the key and the carrier.
The ejection port dust cover is engraved .308 WIN and finished in FDE Cerakote® to match the receivers.
LaRue Tactical MBT-2S two-stage trigger with a straight bow. It breaks crisply at 4.5 lb (2.5 lb first stage, 2.0 lb second) with a smooth and positive reset. An additional heavy trigger spring that raises the pull to 6 lb is included with the rifle. Second of Ten does not stone, polish or alter sear engagement surfaces.
Ambidextrous bolt release, with a paddle-style oversized bolt catch on the left and Second of Ten’s own serrated release button on the right. Extended left-side magazine catch release with a right-side button. Breek Arms WARHAMMER Mod2 charging handle with oversize latches on both sides.
The Radian Weapons Talon® 45/90 ambidextrous safety selector is modular: it runs as a standard 90° selector or as a 45° short throw by rotating the shaft 180° inside the lower. It is installed and configured at 90° and can be reconfigured by the end user.
SOT SR25/A5-style 9-position receiver extension with numbered index markings, black anodized, on a Mil-Spec phosphate-finished castle nut, with a standard rifle-length buffer, the JP Enterprises Tuned and Polished Extra Power Large Frame Rifle Buffer Spring (JPS-OSR-308), and a Forward Controls Design RBF reinforced buffer retainer, a small part that takes repeated impact on a large-frame rifle.
Magpul PRS® Lite stock, with length of pull and comb height adjustable, and a MIAD® GEN 1.1 TYPE 2 grip, both in FDE, on a billet lower with Battle Arms Development enhanced AR-308 steel pivot and takedown pins.
This rifle has a zoomable inspection page showing both sides of the rifle as built, so the markings and machining can be read from the photograph instead of taken from a spec table. The serial number is blurred; no other marking is altered.

The Talon® 45/90 selector ships configured as a standard 90° selector. It can be changed to a 45° short throw by rotating the shaft 180° inside the lower receiver.
