16″ SOTM5 8.6 Blackout RECCE Rifle

Description

The SOTM5 is Second of Ten’s large-frame platform. This 16″ 8.6 Blackout RECCE rifle is built on billet SOTM5 receivers and gassed to run both supersonic and subsonic 8.6 Blackout, with the barrel, gas system, bolt, recoil parts and controls each chosen for that job and named below.

Barrel

• 16″ Faxon Duty Series Gunner profile, 8.6 Blackout (10A863C16NGQ), 16.13″, cut to the cartridge drawing
• 4150 CMV steel, salt-bath QPQ nitride, bore and exterior
• 1:3 twist, 5-groove button rifling; bore and groove air-gauged
• Headspace 100% checked with an 8.6 BLK go/no-go gauge (Faxon)
• DPMS Gen 1 pattern .308 extension, torqued to 150 ft-lb and pinned (Faxon)
• Threaded M18×1.5; Q Cherry Bomb XL 8.6 mm brake installed, 17-4 stainless, 360° ports, fast-attach for Q PORQ CHOP and SHORT CHOP silencers
• Barrel weight 2.2 lb (Faxon)

Gas System

• Carbine-length gas, .104″ port, .875″ journal
• RIFLESPEED adjustable gas block with a numbered control knob — set for supersonic and subsonic 8.6 Blackout and for a suppressor
• Gas block pinned to the barrel with a steel coil spring pin, in line with Bombproof by Design™

Upper Receiver

• SOTM5 MOD-0 billet upper, no forward assist, thermal fitted to the barrel
• 7075-T6 aluminum, LR-308 DPMS high pattern, black anodized
• Threaded forward assist pin; laser-engraved T-marks; dry film lubed
• Ejection port cover engraved with the caliber inside and out
• Breek Arms Warhammer Mod 2 AR-10 charging handle, black

Bolt Carrier Group

• Faxon Superfinished AR10 BCG, Gen 2, nitride — rated for .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor and 8.6 Blackout
• MIL-SPEC 8620 carrier, superfinished and QPQ nitrided
• 9310 bolt, shot peened and MPI tested; S7 extractor with nested .308 springs and O-ring; 4140 cam pin
• Heat-treated 4140 gas key on Grade 8 fasteners, fully staked

Handguard

• 12.625″ Midwest Industries 308 Combat Rail M-LOK®, free float, DPMS High (MI-CR308-12.625)
• 6061 aluminum, hardcoat anodized black; 1.50″ inside diameter
• Heat-treated 4140 steel barrel nut and patented torque plate, plus an aluminum anti-rotation block
